The month of August
of 1536 ran when, coming from Gibraltar and according to account the
tradition, found a barefoot boy, offering Juan to him its footwear
but to being to him useful it did not take it to shoulders until the
source of the Adelfilla to calm his thirst. It was then when a shining
boy and with a grenade crowned by a cross said to him: " Juan de Dios,
Granada will be your cross ".
Spent the time, after founding a hospital on Granada he made the project
by the dreamed one and that was to donate to Villa de Gaucín an image
of the Divine Boy. This fact happened the 7 of September of 1540 when
deceiving the monitoring of the guard of the castle deposited the
beautiful image in the present one in the present hermitage.
During the permanence of the French troops in Villa de Gaucín, in
1810 July, the hermitage was sacked and the primitive image of the
Boy was thrown by the walls of the castle.
After the march of the French and appearance of the image solemn acts
in thanksgiving were celebrated.
The 8 of September of 1936 were sacked the hermitage and burned the
